Some brands are easier to understand once you know where they come from. Naguisa was born in 2012 on the shores of the Mediterranean, founded by Claudia Pérez Polo —product designer— and Pablo Izquierdo López —architect—. A couple, two complementary crafts, one starting point: a beautiful shoe that could adapt to every person's real foot. That is the sentence the brand itself uses to sum up its purpose, and it shows the moment you slip them on.
They work from their studio in Sant Just Desvern, on the outskirts of Barcelona. From there they design short collections, without rush, at the pace allowed by handmade production. Jute is their key material —they call it their great ally— and on that natural fibre they build espadrilles, ballerinas, sandals and shoes. The shape you've always recognised, reread: tighter proportions, less obvious colours, finishes designed to fit how we dress today.
Naguisa are shoes for May through October. The ones you wear on the first warm day and end up keeping on all summer. To the market on a Saturday morning. To a long terrace lunch. Walking home along the rambla when it finally cools. Comfortable from day one —well-stitched jute needs no breaking-in period—, light, with that flexibility that wraps the foot without pinching.
Naguisa puts its philosophy plainly, in five chained words: honesty in their creations, nobility in their materials, utility in every detail, humanity in the team, closeness in their relationships. The brand is now present in more than 20 countries and still works as it began: a small studio, a couple at the helm, and the will not to rush what already works slowly.
We carry Naguisa at SUNE because it fits what we are: brands with criteria, with an honest purpose behind them, made by people who love their craft. And because there is one detail that matters to us more than any argument: customers who try Naguisa for the first time tend to come back the following summer for another colour. That is how you measure a good brand.
You'll find our Naguisa selection available online. If you'd like to see them and try them on with time, drop by our Passeig de Gràcia stores: we have them on display and we'll help you find yours.
